Position Title: Annual Giving Officer and Grants Specialist

Organization: 317 Main Community Music Center

Position Summary: The Annual Giving Officer and Grants Specialist is a key member of our advancement team reporting to the Director of Advancement. This position is responsible for driving donor engagement, cultivating strong relationships with key stakeholders, and implementing innovative fundraising strategies. This role focuses on securing major gifts ranging from $5,000 and higher, while also managing grant processes to support organizational goals. The ideal candidate will be creative, resilient, adaptable, and confident in creating meaningful connections with donors and aligning them with 317 Main's mission.​

Key Responsibilities:

Major Gifts (60%):

      Donor Identification and Cultivation: Identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward a portfolio of major donors and top-level prospects for significant contributions. Develop and implement strategies to engage donors and prospects effectively.​

      Relationship Building: Build and maintain strong relationships with individual donors, corporate partners, funders, and sponsors. Engage in regular communication and personalized outreach to enhance donor retention and growth.​

      Fundraising Strategies: Develop and execute innovative fundraising strategies, including prospecting new donors, managing existing donor relationships, planning campaigns, organizing donor cultivation events, and promoting legacy giving.​

      Collaboration: Work closely with board members, staff leaders, and volunteers to coordinate and execute long-term fundraising initiatives.​

Grants Management (40%):

      Grant Research and Proposal Development: Research, prepare, submit, and manage grant proposals and reports that support agency goals and meet funder guidelines and criteria. Serve as the primary grant writer and manage funder relationships.​

      Compliance and Reporting: Ensure compliance with grant requirements, manage reporting deadlines, and maintain accurate records of grant activities.​

      Process Improvement: Continuously improve internal grant management systems and processes to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.

Qualifications:

      Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree preferred. Minimum of five years of experience in major gift fundraising and grants management, preferably in the nonprofit sector. Proven ability to close five- and six-figure gifts is essential.​

      Skills and Competencies:

      Communication: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to articulate the organization's mission and impact effectively.​

      Relationship Building: Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build and maintain relationships with donors, funders, board members, and staff.​

      Project Management: Excellent organizational skills with high attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.​

      Adaptability: Creative, resilient, and adaptable, with the ability to thrive in a dynamic environment.​

      Technical Proficiency: Experience with CRM/databases and fundraising software is preferred.​

Work condition: This position is based in Yarmouth, Maine. 317 Maine employees primarily work from our location with some remote flexibility as needed. Candidates are expected to live in Maine or relocate. 317 Main will not provide relocation assistance. 

Compensation: The salary range for this position is $50,000 to $65,000 per year, commensurate with experience.
